lecture 2- rotavirus

Rotavirus is causative agent for diarrhea disease at children below 5 years. This virus could cause the mortality to 608,00 children at developer country (Choi et al, 2005) .Infected children has several symptoms such as fever, diarrhea and hydration. This virus was in reoviridae family with others virus like Orthoreovirus, Orbivirus, Cypovirus, Phytoreovirus and Fijivirus. Electron microscope observation mention that rotavirus had an icosahedral form as like as motorcycle wheels. Rotavirus has seven groups those are Rotavirus A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

Rotavirus A is important agent that can cause gastroentritis among children. Rotavirus was spread to person by human oral route. Rotavirus is non enveloped virus. They has double strand RNA genom and has proteins suchs as VP6, VP7, VP9 and VP4.
